Sony revealed this week its figures for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2024. We learnt that the Japanese company shipped 20.8 million PS5s over this period for a total of 59. 3 million units since the machine's launch.
These figures are very close to those of the PS4, which sold 60 million units over the same period. Analysts such as X.com's Daniel Ahmad believe that, while consoles are selling well for Sony, they are stagnating if compared to the previous generation. This is why companies are looking to go beyond hardware, targeting other media such as cinema or relying on services.
Finally, Ahmed has produced a comparison that demostrates the Japanese manufacturer's superiority over Microsoft, its direct competitor. Over the last quarter, the PS5 shipped five times more thatn the Xbox Series worldwide.
