AMD seeks to compete with Intel Core i5 with its Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F
, by Quentin
It seems AMD is seeking to compete with Intel and its i5-14400F processor range by launching the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F.
Both of AMD's new APUs come with the same Zen 4 architecture, but lack the RDNA 3 iGPU core. The Ryzen 7 8700 F has 8 cores and 16 threads, with a base clock of 4.1 GHz and a boost to 5.05 GHz. It retails for $269.99.
Meanwhile, the Ryzen 5 8400 F has 6 cores and 12 threads, a base clock of 4.2 GHz and a boost to 4.75 GHz. It costs $169.99.
With prices more or less in line with Intel's i5-14400F and some good features, AMD is posed as a great alternative to its competitor.
