Double Eleven and Paradox Interactive have ended their partnership on Prison Architect
, by Thibaut
In 2019, Introversion Software, the studio behind the first Prison Architect, sold the rights to the franchise to Paradox Interactive. At the time, the publisher had already given the console port and DLC to Double Eleven, who then took over on the sequel.
Delayed until September 3, Prison Architect 2 is the English studio's last hurrah for the series. Paradox has announced the end of the partnership between the two companies. Indeed, as the second game is currently going through the certification phase on various platform, "the contract was fulfilled” says the publisher.
Paradox also declares that it has not reached “a commercial agreement that worked for both parties moving forward and mutually agreed to part ways”*. Brazilian studio Kokku, which was assisting Double Eleven with the development of Prison Architect 2, has been in sole charge since January.
