Possibility Space closes its doors without releasing a single game
, by Thibaut
Founded in 2021 by Jeff Strain, who also created Undead Labs (State of Decay), Possibility Space closed its doors abruptly this week. The news came via social networks, where former employees have made their dismissal official.
The reasons behind the closure were given by Strain himself on an internal email. In this lengthy message, the company founder blames an article that was due to appear on Kotaku. The media outlet, which had come to ask Jeff Strain questions prior to publication of the article, stated that it had learned of Project Vonnegut (the game Possibility Space was working on) via sources inside the studio.
Deeply saddened by the leaks by the company's employees, Strain said he had made an appointment with parent company Prytania Media to find out how much damage had been done. During the meeting, the latter indicated that it did not wish to continue investing in the game being developed by Possibility Space. Both companies decided to cancel the contract.
Jeff Strain then decided to close the studio and leave the video game industry. All employees were immediately dismissed, and those domiciled outside the USA will have their last day of work on April 19.
Possibility Space disappears just three years after opening its doors and without having released even a single game.
