Saber Interactive CEO believes selling games at $70 won't be viable much longer

Now free from the clutches of Embracer Group, Saber Interactive CEO has taken a liking to the press. Indeed, Matthew Karch has once again spoken with the press, this time with IGN.

During the interview, Karch discussed the current state of the videogame industry. He was really critical of the price tag of AAA games, which are generally sold for $70 or €79.99.

"I just don't think it's sustainable…Look, you remember the hype for Cyberpunk, which I think actually ultimately performed okay, but when the expectations are so high and so much money is put into one title, it's hugely risky for the company that's doing it. What if it fails? [...] I think the market is going to shift to development which is not necessarily lower quality, but there's going to be an emphasis on trying to find ways to reduce costs."

The president of Saber Interactive points to Helldivers 2 success as an example. The Arrowhead Game Studios title retails for just €39.99. Karch say the company intends to offer products of this kind in the future.
