In the UK, video game retailer GAME conducted a survey of 650 clients with the aim was to gauge customer interest in adapting games into films or series. The results must of course be put into context, as the panel surveyed was very limited and based in a single country.
Nevertheless, participants put the first two Tomb Raider films at the top of the list of best big-screen adaptations, with 52% of votes. By comparison, Gran Turismo received just 14% of the vote. But the interest of this poll lies elsewhere...
An adaptation of Red Dead Redemption into a feature film or series is the most requested, with a result of 41%. Other top choices include Mass Effect (38%), Horizon (33%) and The Elder Scrolls (29%). Meanwhile, a FIFA live-action film received 2% of the votes.
The most eagerly awaited adaptations were Fallout (49%), followed by BioShock and God of War. Finally, of all the series and films inspired by video games, The Last of Us was the logical winner, with 42% of votes.
