Cancelled Batmabn game by Monolith Productions appears on social media

Since its creation back in 1994, Monolith Productions has worked on titles such as F.E.A.R. and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel, Shadow of War. But well before the release of the first title inspired by Lord of the Rings, the American company was hard at work on another popular franchise.

Several videos of "Project Apollo", a Batman game based in Christopher Nolan's films, were posted on X.com. Players would have had the chance to explore a open Gotham City, moving around using Bruce Wayne gagdges. Infiltration would have been an important part of the gameplay, and the Nemesis System was also due to make an appearance, before being reused in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Unfortunately, this Batman game ended up being cancelled by Warner Bros, as the publisher thought it wasn't a great idea to have a second branch of games based on the same superhero. Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy was enjoying great success at the time. In the end, many of the same elements were used in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Monolith is now working on a Wonder Woman game.
