Blizzard says they are ready to lend the Warcraft IP to third-party studios to create new games

Until now, Blizzard has kept a tight rein on its various licenses. However, the American firm seems to be considering letting outside studios take charge of some future games based on its licenses.
This is what John Hight, head of the Warcraft saga at Blizzard, has said. Hight has opened the door to third-party developers wishing to use the series' universe.
"We're open to letting people who really understand the saga and have a great idea of how to present Warcraft do it, and if we think aesthetically they'll be able to aim high."
Even so, Hight adds that it will be necessary to find "the right partner, at the right time" for such a thing to see the light of day. For the moment, this is not the case. Anyways, the head of Warcraft also stated that this could allow a wider audience to discover the franchise.
