Ads are coming to Discord this week

After almost ten years, Discord is giving in to the siren song of ads. Although firmly opposed to them, Jason Citron, the head of the American company, has decided to finally add advertising to his instant messaging service, mainly for gamers.
The ads are coming later this week, and will be placed at the bottom left of the screen. They will promote certain games according to the user's tastes, who can even earn rewards by streaming the game featured on it. To do so, you need at least one viewer.
According to early feedback, the ads aren't that intrusive, and Discord Nitro members can deactivate them.
This addition follows the layofss of 17% of Discord's workforce last January.
