Digital Foundry tempers expectations for the PlayStation 5 Pro and FPS

We've been hearing all sotrts of contradictory info about the PS5 Pro for several days now, and the analysts at Digital Foundry, who are masters of their craft, have chimed in to temper expectations.

Indeed, they explain that the PlayStation 5 Pro's processor is identical to that of the current version, and that both are equipped with a 16-thread Zen 2 and a clock speed of 3.5 GHz. The only difference is that the PlayStation 5 Pro seems to feature a high-frequency mode, allowing the chip to boost its performance by 10%, to 3.8 GHz.

For analysts, there's no doubt about it. This will have no real impact on framerate. Here's what they say:

"The games that are targeting 30fps right now are not going to be targeting 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 Pro if they’re CPU-limited."

These statements are likely to temper the expectations of many regarding Sony's next console.
