Development and support of Halo: The Master Chief Collection could have been halted in July 2023

Already celebrating its tenth anniversary this next November, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is no longer going to get any new content. At least, that what the latest rumours point to.

The decision was made in July 2023. It appears the game was difficult to monetize over the long term and the profits generated by it were not substantial enough to warrant more financing for 343 Industries from Microsoft.

In addition, the American manufacturer wanted to reduce the overall production costs for fear of an economic recession. However, development of the game could be resumed one day, given the right conditions are met.
