DirectSR is not a Microsoft alternative to DLSS or FSR after all, but an API for developers
, by Quentin
While initial information on DirectSR was rather vague and difficult to understand, many thought we were about to witness the emergence of a new competitor for AMD, Nvidia and Intel upscaling technologies.
In the end, it turned out to be nothing of the sort. Microsoft has finally spoken out on the subject, and DirectSR is quite simply a DirectX API designed for developers that allows the integration of Super Resolution into future game releases.
What's more, it will enable a variety of upscaling solutions, including NVIDIA's DLSS, AMD's FSR and Intel's XeSS.
