A free-to-play Battlefield with battle royale mode may be in development

Electronic Arts is quietly preparing Battlefield's comeback. Following the commercial and critical failure of Battlefield 2042, the publisher has reorganized the entire creative team, which is currently working on several separate projects.
According to Insider Gaming, the next installment in the saga will feature online matches for up to 64 players, a four-class system and an emphasis on scenery destruction. The story of this episode would opt for a modern setting between 2025 and 2030. The central theme of the campaign could be the use of recent technologies on the battlefield.
Added to all this is another project that would be a battle royale with a free-to-play business model. In addition to the mode widely popularized by Fortnite, a second called "Gauntlet" should be included. In this mode, players will have to complete specific objectives, and the team at the bottom of the leaderboard after each mission will be evicted.
According to Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson, the next Battlefield won't be released until 2025.
