Nobuo Uematsu no longer sees himself composing a complete soundtrack for a Final Fantasy game
, by Thibaut
The Japanese composer is best known for having composed the soundtracks for nine Final Fantasy games in the course of his long career. On Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, he notably took care of the main theme, delegating a large number of tracks to other artists.
In a recent interview, Nobuo Uematsu had more to say about his future with the Square Enix saga.
"As far as Final Fantasy is concerned, I'm still involved in writing the main themes for the games. But I don't think I'll ever compose the music for an entire game again. You'd have to give it your all for two or three years and I don't think I have the physical and mental strength to do that. I think I'd rather use the time I have left to work on other projects I like. Like compositions like Merregnon or my band Uematsu Nobuo conTIKI."
The last complete soundtrack Nobuo Uematsu composed was for Fantasian, an RPG released on Apple Arcade in 2021.
