The rumor of the week concerns Microsoft and its Xbox Series S console. According to insider RedGamingTech, a hardware update for the console has been cancelled by the company.
According to the insider, this console was to be equipped with an RDNA 3 GPU, a general improvement in technical specifications, more RAM and Machine Learning functionalities. Unfortunately, this project was abandoned early on, according to RedGamingTech. What's more, the system's APU was not fully developed.
The reason? SKU saturation was mentioned, with Microsoft believing that the presence of four SKUs on the market at the same time could have led to various problems. This could have caused marketing problems for the company, as it is difficult to market a console that is more powerful than its base model but less powerful than an Xbox Series X. This represents a risky in-between proposition.
