Around 700 Ubisoft employees in France have gone on strike after pay negotiations broke down

This week, the famous French publisher went through a bit of a crisis. Some 700 unionized employees went on strike on February 14 after the failure of negotiations on annual salary increases.

In a press release, the Syndicat des Travailleurs et Travailleuses du Jeu Vidéo (STJV) explained that Ubisoft had proposed salary increases below inflation for the second year running. This is all part of a policy to reduce production costs, with the aim of saving 200 million euros over the next two years.

A policy widely decried by the union and employees at a time when Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO, was announcing results well above expectations for the third quarter of the fiscal year.

To protest this decision, several hundred employees working in Bordeaux, Lyon, Montpellier, Annecy and Paris went on strike.
