For Sony, the PS5 will enter the final stage of its life cycle this year

Time flies, and Sony is already looking to the future. At the time of announcing the latest PS5 figures, Naomi Matsuoka, vice-president of the Japanese giant, gave a quick update on the machine's future.

According to Matsuoka, the PlayStation 5 will soon enter the final cycle of its existence.

"Looking ahead, PS5 will enter the latter stage of its life cycle. As such, we will put more emphasis on the balance between profitability and sales. For this reason, we expect the annual sales pace of PS5 hardware will start falling from the next fiscal year".

Sony thus expects sales to decline as early as April 1st, 2024. However, we shouldn't expect to see a PS6 hit the market any time soon. The manufacturer is expected to offer a PS5 Pro as a first step to revive interest in its machine.
