Sony has decided to cancel the South Korean release of Rise of the Ronin

Expected worldwide on March 22, Rise of the Ronin will not be released in South Korea. This decision is the result of a statement made by Fumihiko Yasuda, the title's director.

In a behind-the-scenes video about the creation of the game, Yasuda compared Japanese intellectual Yoshida Shōin to Socrates. A comparison that didn't go down well in Korea, since Shōin had theorized that Japan would conquer Korean lands to strengthen its strategic position in the region.

Sony has made the cancellation official. The game won't be marketed in South Korea, neither digital or physical.
