Rumors point to Sony working on a new handheld console
, by Thibaut
Since the commercial failure of the PS Vita, Sony has completely abandoned the portable console market. It has to be said that, apart from the Switch, no machine has ventured into this sector.
According to renowned insider Moore's Law is Dead, the Japanese manufacturer is indeed at work on a new portable that, unlike the PlayStation Portal, could run games natively. The console would also feature a bespoke APU designed by AMD. Backward compatibility with the PS4 catalog would be on the agenda, and PS5 titles could run via "a pro patch".
However, this information also states that the project has only just begun, and that Sony has not yet given the go-ahead for a hypothetical commercial launch. If it were to materialize, the console would not be released for at least another two years.
