Xbox sales up 49% in previous quarter

This week, Microsoft unveiled its financial results for the second quarter of fiscal 2024. These results were closely scrutinized, to say the least, following the announcement of 1,900 redundancies in the company's gaming division.

Xbox reported a 49% increase in sales during this period, largely due to the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King. Sales were logically boosted by the acquisition of the Call of Duty, Diablo and World of Warcraft licenses. Of these 49%, 44% were attributable to Activision.

In terms of content and services (Game Pass), Xbox recorded another 61% increase (55% of which was attributable to Activision). Hardware sales rose by 3% year-on-year. In the same quarter, 200 million active users were counted on Xbox, PC and mobile. This total also includes players of Activision Blizzard titles. This is an all-time record for the company.

Microsoft's overall sales climbed to $62 billion, with net income of $21.9 billion.
