The Last of Us Part II originally had a different ending

The remastering of The Last of Us Part II on PS5 has arrived with a few new features. Among them are comments from Neil Druckmann, the game's director.

Warning, if you haven't yet played The Last of Us Part II, the following contains major spoilers!

Druckmann tells us that the game's ending almost took a different path. Originally, Ellie was supposed to kill Abby by drowning her. In the end, our heroine spares Joel's killer at the very last moment and lets her go.

A change made because, according to Neil Druckmann, "Joel wouldn't have wanted Ellie to kill Abby".
