Dragon's Dogma 2 director thinks games that use too much fast travel are boring
, by Thibaut
In an interview with IGN, Hideaki Itsuno, director of Dragon's Dogma 2, talked about a well-known aspect of open-world games. Open-world games often rely on a fast-travel system to facilitate exploration.
A feature that Itsuno doesn't really like. He believes that a title that uses and abuses fast travel does so because it is "boring". In Dragon's Dogma 2, the player will not be encouraged to use this system. The aim is to make these journeys "fun", by placing things "in the right place for players to discover".
Dragon's Dogma 2 will still offer two options for fast travel. However, they will be limited or have consequences. For example, one method will require the use of specific items to travel to another portal. As for the second, it may lead to ambushes by enemies.
