A Call of Duty: Zombies service game almost saw the light of day

The "Zombies" mode of Call of Duty is extremely popular. So popular, in fact, that Activision came close to making it a game in its own right. We learned this from the LinkedIn profile of Michael Gummelt, a former developer at Raven Software.

In his description, he says he worked as "lead designer on a new Call of Duty: Zombies live service project " The game, which was in active development between Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) and Black Ops 2 (2012), was obviously cancelled.
