Bossa Studios (Surgeon Simulator) has laid off 19 employees
, by Thibaut
The independent British studio behind Surgeon Simulator has been hit by redundancies at the end of 2023. GamesIndustry.biz reports the sad news.
Approximately one third of the company's workforce will be leaving. That's 19 people, which leaves the company with just 40 employees.
The main sectors affected are QA testers, production and employees working outside the UK.
In a statement, Bossa Studios co-founder Henrique Olifiers refers to "the number of AAA games launching after September that took away the focus from AA and indie games, increasing operational costs, and delayed funding decisions across the industry for new titles".
