In 2023, some 9,000 employees lost their jobs in the video game industry

As we all know, 2023 was a bleak year for the gaming industry. Several studios closed their doors and thousands of professionals were left out in the cold.
According to videogameslayoffs.com, some 9,000 people were laid off in 2023 alone.
The main companies are Unity (1,165 employees made redundant), ByteDance (1,000), Embracer Group (964), Epic Games (830) and Amazon (715).
