The latest Saints Row could have been completely different

The reboot of Saints Row, which saw the light of day back in August 2022, was a disaster for its studio Volition, which has since closed its doors. This was due to quality well below license standards and relatively low sales.

The latest Saints Row was originally conceived in a very different way. Indeed, it was to use much of the cast from the previous games, with characters such as Johnny Gat, Aisha, Dex, Pierce and Shaundi included. The game was to be "80% Saints Row 2 and 20% Saints Row The Third"*.

This proposal was ultimately rejected, as the publisher had a different vision for the project.
