In the world of video game engines, two behemoths stand out: Unreal Engine and Unity. Until now, you've either had to pay a fee in the form of a subscription, or based on the revenue generated by your creation.
However, there's now a change on the Unity side. The company has just announced that, from January 1, 2024, developers will have to pay a royalty every time a creation is installed by a user. Billing will begin once a work has been installed 200,000 times, and the amount will be between 5 and 20 cents per installation.
