Resident Evil 2 remake becomes the best-selling entry in the series

Until now, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was the biggest commercial success of Capcom's survival-horror franchise. By now, it has sold 12.40 million copies worldwide.
This week, the Japanese publisher announced that Resident Evil 2 has climbed to the top of the podium, with the 2019 remake having sold 12.60 million copies worldwide. In third place is Resident Evil 5 (8.8 million units).
