GOG would like to revive physical PC games
, by Thibaut
Amid a very unfavorable climate for physical games, they may have found a new champion. Indeed, GOG would like to revive physical copies on our computers.
That’s what Marcin Paczynski, head of business development and partnerships at GOG, said in an interview with GamesRadar+. Of course, the road to making this vision a reality will be long, and the obstacles numerous. The Polish retailer will have to set up a complex logistics system and obtain permission from publishers.
"Ideally, my dream would be to be able to buy physical versions of those games on GOG. You go to your shelf on GOG, you click on the game that you would like to receive a physical copy of, you order it, and it gets to you. That would be a perfect scenario.
Because we are talking about physical media, we need to think about logistics. We need to think about storage and additional approvals. This is an idea that has been floating around GOG for years now, and still, I really hope that at some point we will be able to do it. We'll see."
So don’t expect such a thing to be rolled out anytime soon.
