A PS5 hacker reports a security flaw to Sony and pockets $50,000

This incident has sparked a lot of discussion on social media. While some users are taking advantage of the console’s jailbreak, one hacker decided to help Sony out in order to claim a reward.
In an article published by IGN, we learn that a user named Jordy discovered the source of a vulnerability reported last week. Among other things, it allowed Linux to be booted on the console. Using AI tools, Jordy was able to understand the nature of the vulnerability. But rather than sharing this discovery with the community, he contacted Sony. In recognition of this discovery, the Japanese manufacturer paid the user $50,000.
On X, Jordy explained that he acted this way because his mother is terminally ill. In this post, which has been viewed nearly 2 million times on X, he also expressed his disdain for gamers who disapproved of his decision.
"I’m nearly 30 years old. I could care less about people not being able to pirate a game, let alone do I want to enable modding it."
