XBOX reportedly asked Netflix for $800 million to allow it to adapt its franchises

This could have been a very strong partnership between two entertainment giants. Indeed, XBOX and Netflix were apparently on the verge of signing a long-term agreement to adapt several franchises into movies or TV series. Unfortunately, the negotiations fell through.

The rumor comes from the website Puck News. According to this report, Netflix reportedly offered Xbox an exclusive deal to secure the film and television adaptation rights to the company’s franchises. This collaboration would have spanned seven years for a total of $500 million.

However, Xbox appears to have been too greedy, demanding a hefty check for $800 million instead. Netflix reportedly decided to withdraw its offer as a result. In early October, Xbox announced its new XP division, dedicated specifically to film adaptations.
