Relive Sony's E3 2006 conference and the PS3's chaotic presentation in glorious 1080p
, by Thibaut
This weekend, we bring you a little piece of history. At E3 2006, Sony set off to a rocky star while unveiling the famous PlayStation 3 to the world. Here comes a conference from another era that has been remastered in Full HD.
From the embarrassing giant crab demo, to the famous "RIIIIIDGE RACERRRRR" from Kaz Hirai (then president of Sony Computer Entertainment America), to the PS3's insane price tag, the Japanese manufacturer almost got it all wrong during this presentation.
Nevertheless, we also saw the first pieces from the game that would end up becoming Uncharted, a trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4 and a video for Final Fantasy XIII. So, not everything went wrong, but nonetheless this conference marked the PS3's difficult debut.
