Microsoft asks players if they want physical games on XBOX Helix
, by Thibaut
The future of physical media is more threatened than ever. Since Sony plans to phase it out as early as January 2028, some players see Xbox as a potential savior that could preserve physical discs. And Microsoft appears to be looking into the matter!
In a survey posted on the Xbox Insider Hub for Xbox consoles, the American company asked users about various topics related to Project Helix. For example, players were asked if they’d like to see "lighting on the console that changes to match the game you are playing" or a system that "automatically identify and save gameplay highlights" to share later.
Even more interestingly, Xbox asked whether players would like to be able to "install games from a physical disc". Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet. This is simply a survey that won’t necessarily lead to anything concrete. But there’s still hope!
