Ikumi Nakamura refuses to port Kemuri to XBOX

For those who may have forgotten, Kemuri is an action game in which players can possess yokai by making a pact with them. The adventure takes place in the heart of a vertical city besieged by unknown beings. The game will support co-op play for up to three players.

As of this writing, Kemuri is expected to release on PS5 and PC in 2027. During a Q&A session, Ikumi Nakamura, founder of UNSEEN Inc., was asked about a possible Xbox version. She dismissed the idea outright, citing her team’s limited size. She refuses to overwork her colleagues by asking them to handle the work of such a port.

"I want people to understand that porting takes a lot of work. We’re developing the game for PC. Porting it to Nintendo or PlayStation requires engineers to handle the port work. At a big company, you usually have dedicated people to handle. But we’re a very small studio. If we had to do the porting ourselves, our engineers would be exhausted. I’d rather prioritize people’s well-being. I don’t want anyone dying just to release an Xbox version. People come first."
