FTC's final appeal against Activision Blizzard's adquisition rejected
, by Thibaut
Following its defeat by Microsoft this week, the US Federal Trade Commission had chosen to appeal in an attempt to prevent the takeover of Activision Blizzard. Prior to this, the FTC was seeking an extension to the pause (which ended on Friday 14 July) that forced the manufacturer to wait before finalising the acquisition.
In the end, this request to extend the standstill was rejected by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Microsoft therefore has the opportunity to complete its merger with Activision Blizzard even before the verdict on appeal is known, with an agreement being reached in the next few hours.
