According to Windows Central reporter Jez Corden, this new XBOX game to be announced at Gamescom is "an unexpected sequel." He didn’t provide any further details other than it’s not a new Banjo.

Next week, Gamescom 2026 will bring us its share of announcements and demos for games set to release in the coming months. Most major publishers will be in attendance, including XBOX.
In fact, renowned insider NateTheHate has teased this development a bit. According to him, XBOX will make “a neat announcement” at the German trade show. In another post, he stated that it involves a new game.
However, NateTheHate notes that he still needs to gather more information to confirm whether this mysterious game will be at to Gamescom. As a reminder, the event will take place in Cologne from August 26 to 30, 2026.
