Beast of Reincarnation Review: Game Freak's latest game gets mixed scores

Beast of Reincarnation releases on PS5, XBOX Series, and PC today, Tuesday, August 4. The new title from Game Freak (Pokémon) has already been reviewed by the press, and the initial feedback on this entirely new action-RPG is relatively mixed.

On Metacritic, Beast of Reincarnation has an average score of 73% on PS5 (52 reviews) and 72% on PC (27 reviews). Its OpenCritic score stands at 76% based on 44 reviews. Of course, keep in mind that these scores are subject to change.

Overall, Beast of Reincarnation has been praised for its fairly lengthy and engaging storyline. The game features some good ideas and has a very pleasant atmosphere, and the boss battles are also quite impressive.

However, reviewers also highlighted serious technical issues, particularly on Xbox Series and PC. Steam reviews, which are mixed so far, mention these significant optimization problems. The game’s formula is also said to be quite repetitive, and the whole experience can sometimes feel a bit stale.
