Marathon's game director Juoseph Ziegler is leaving Bungie

Bungie has to say goodbye to one of its most prominent figures once again. Joseph Ziegler, who joined the studio back in December 2022 after more than 12 years at Riot Games, will leave the company.

In fact, his last day of work as game director on Marathon is this Friday, July 17, 2026. In a lenghty post on X, Ziegler has explained that he is moving on to "something new".

Del Chafe III is taking over as director of Marathon. He will have the daunting task of turning things around for this PvP shooter, which so far hasn't attracted enough players to ensure a bright future.
