According to the game's director, a Kid Icarus Uprising sequel will be "difficult" to make

In March 2012, the Nintendo 3DS welcomed an excellent little game called Kid Icarus Uprising. This was the third installment in the franchise and unfortunately never received a sequel. If we are to believe the recent words of its director, Masahiro Sakurai, the announcement of a fourth entry seems more than unlikely.
In an interview, Sakurai expressed regret that his darling only released on Nintendo's handheld console. "It's a shame that it only lived on the 3DS, because I'd like to play it on a bigger screen with smoother graphics, but without a team to work on it, it seems difficult to conceive of a sequel".
And indeed, the Project Sora studio sadly closed its doors abruptly in June 2012.
