Microsoft says it never intended to make Call of Duty exclusive to Xbox
, by Thibaut
As we've said many times before, Sony has been very vocal in its opposition to the Activision Blizzard takeover of Call of Duty. Publicly, the Japanese manufacturer has suspected Microsoft of wanting to make the FPS license exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem. The Japanese firm also explained that its competitor might decide to undermine the quality of the series' games on PlayStation machines.
However, these accusations appear to be totally unfounded. Amy Hood, Microsoft's CFO, recently stated that "the possibility of making Call of Duty exclusive to Xbox was never assessed or discussed with me, nor was it even mentioned in any of the presentations to or discussions with the Board of Directors."
Hood adds in passing that she understands the need to release Call of Duty games on other platforms.
