Valve bans Steam games that use AI-generated elements
, by Thibaut
For several days now, Valve has been banning games from its online store. If we are to believe the initial information, only titles that contain resources created using artificial intelligence are affected.
On Reddit, a developer by the name of Simon Carless submitted a version of his new game to Valve that in turn was rejected by the American firm.
“After reviewing, we have identified intellectual property in [Game Name Here] which appears to belongs to one or more third parties. In particular, [Game Name Here] contains art assets generated by artificial intelligence that appears to be relying on copyrighted material owned by third parties".
Since artificial intelligence blurs the the line of copyright, Valve prefers to take precautions and refuse the game. Despite this, the company offers the creator a second chance, inviting him to remove such elements before submitting the game again.
