Microsoft chairman Satya Nadella would like to put an end to console exclusives
, by Thibaut
Exclusive games have almost always been at the heart of the video game industry. Developed in-house by manufacturers or in partnership with third-party publishers, these titles regularly fuel what we know as the "console wars".
A practice that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella would like to see disappear. During the trial between his company and the FTC over the purchase of Activision Blizzard, he declared that he "grew up in a company that always believed that software should run in as many platforms as possible, and that’s just the Microsoft I grew up in, I believe in that".
While he went on to acknowledge the need to secure exclusives to make Xbox competitive in the marketplace, Nadella added that he would "love to get rid of console exclusives entirely". He admits, however, that this decision is not up to him.
