Yoshi and the Mysterious Book appears to have been developed using Unreal Engine 5

Although it hasn’t generated much buzz ahead of its May 21 release, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is nonetheless a very promising little platformer headed for the Switch 2.

While we wait for this launch, which might almost go unnoticed, we’ve obtained some interesting information about the game’s development. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will run on Unreal Engine 5.

This engine is still rare on the Switch 2, as the console might struggle to handle it. So far, only Fortnite, Cronos: The New Dawn, and Layers of Fear (2023) currently use UE5 on Nintendo’s console. Thus, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book will be the first Switch 2 exclusive to run on Epic’s engine.
