(UPD) Xbox Series X: Major issues have been reported regarding access to backward-compatible Xbox 360 games

Update: May 1, 2026, at 11:05 a.m.

On X, Jason Ronald, Head of Next-Gen at Xbox, stated that the issue with backward-compatible Xbox 360 games has been fixed. He still encourages players who may still be experiencing the bug to reach out.

For several days now, players have been reporting issues with the Xbox 360 game library. Indeed, a growing number of users have reported being unable to access their backward-compatible games.

First mentioned on Reddit earlier this month, the issue has not yet been resolved and even prompted Xbox to issue a statement on April 22.

« We are aware that some Xbox Series X players are unable to launch certain backward-compatible Xbox 360 games, and our team is actively investigating the issue. »

For now, there is no workaround to temporarily fix the problem while waiting for an official patch. Players have tried restarting their consoles, clearing storage space, or using a different Wi-Fi network, without success.

However, Xbox Support reportedly told users that the issue only occurs on newer Xbox Series X consoles that have not been properly validated by the Xbox 360 servers. Therefore, those who have owned their console for several years should not be affected.
