The Fortnite deal with Disney remains in place despite the layoffs at Epic Games
, by Thibaut
Back in February 2024, The Walt Disney Company announced the signing of a partnership with Epic Games as part of Fortnite. This $1.5 billion deal is intended to create a persistent gaming and entertainment universe centered around Disney franchises.
Unfortunately, Epic Games confirmed this week that it is laying off more than 1,000 of its employees. Significant cost-cutting measures will also be implemented, and some developers are already suggesting that these steps will impact the future of Fortnite.
However, Epic has clarified that the agreement with Disney remains intact.
"We're committed to building a games and entertainment universe with Disney. The vision is unchanged, and we are excited by our progress."
