Microsoft to raise prices for Xbox Series X and Game Pass
, by Thibaut
After Sony, it's Microsoft's turn to raise prices, starting with the Xbox Series X, which will be sold at €549.99 in Europe, £479.99 in the UK, $649.99 in Canada and $799.99 in Australia. However. prices for the Xbox Series S will remain the same.
There's also bad news for Game Pass. The Ultimate package will now cost $16.99 (€14.99/£12.99) per month, instead of $14.99, with the console version being billed at $9.99 (€14.99/£12.99) per month. The standard console version goes from $9.99 to $10.99 per month (€10.99 / £8.99). There are no changes to report for PC Game Pass.
By way of justification, Microsoft simply explained that "We’ve held on our prices for consoles for many years and have adjusted the prices to reflect the competitive conditions in each market."
These increases will take effect from August 1.
