The Game Boy Advance turns 25: here are the games you can play on Switch and Switch 2
, by Thibaut
The Game Boy Advance was first released in Japan on March 21, 2001. Nintendo’s handheld console was then released in North America on June 11 of the same year, followed by Europe on June 22. An updated version called the Game Boy Advance SP hit the market in February 2003, followed by the Game Boy Micro in September 2005.
Today, the GBA (as it’s affectionately known) celebrates its 25th anniversary. Although production of the console ceased in January 2008 after 81.5 million units were sold worldwide, there’s an easy way to revisit its game library. Subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack can download the Game Boy Advance emulator on Switch and Switch 2.
