Star Wars: Galactic Racer will not have a season pass and will not be open world
, by Thibaut
Thanks to an interview with IGN, we have obtained some exclusive information about Star Wars: Galactic Racer. The racing game is still set to be released this year on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
During the interview, Matt Webster, CEO and founder of Fuse Games, made several revelations about the game's content. First off, it won't have an open-world structure, and all the action will take place on predefined tracks. Between races, players will be able to walk around the paddock and interact with characters from the Star Wars universe.
In addition to the multiplayer mode, a full single-player campaign will also be available. Star Wars: Galactic Racer will have all of its content available at launch. There will be no season pass. Of course, updates could still bring new features and other improvements after release.
The races themselves will focus on learning and mastering the tracks. The goal is to offer a real dose of replayability. A two-stage boost system will be included. The second stage is a high-speed ramjet that can generate a large amount of heat and eventually explode if overused.
Finally, the environment will be interactive and offer tactical options to gain the upper hand over our opponents. Be careful, though, as certain aspects of these environments could work against us. On the planet Lantaana, rivers of water and lava will be decisive in determining the outcome of the race. Heat will improve the performance of the ramjet engine, while water will be used to cool it down more quickly.
