, by Thibaut
A major figure in the video game industry has left us. We have just learned of the passing of Hideki Sato at the age of 77. He died on February 13, 2026.
After joining SEGA in 1971, Sato served as chief engineer on the company's consoles. He oversaw the design of the Master System, Mega Drive, and Saturn. Of course, we also owe him the Dreamcast, which remains the Japanese company's last console to this day. From 2001 to 2003, Hideki Sato served as president of SEGA.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones.
