Activision Blizzard takeover temporarily blocked in the US

There's some news in the long-running drama of Microsoft's takeover of Activision Blizzard King, this time with a strong signal from a US federal court. A temporary restraining order has been issued against the American giant to prevent the $68.7 billion takeover.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a complaint on Monday to obtain the order, which was finally accepted by the court. As a result, the takeover cannot be finalized "after 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the fifth business day after the Court rules on the FTC’s request for a preliminary injunction ". Given that the hearing on the preliminary injunction will take place on June 22 and 23, the acquisition will probably not be able to be closed this month.

Finally, the FTC will be in a position to defend itself legally, should this expensive injunction be accepted by the courts. In short, the takeover process will drag on for a few more days.
